A Cracker of a Night
26th September 2007
Starting the Whitsunday Reef Festival with a bang, Fantasea's Cracker Night is always
a very popular evening for visitors and the local community. With only a few
weeks to go before the big night on Friday 26 October, Fantasea staff are working
hard to ensure this will be the biggest night ever.
Cracker Night has been going for over ten years and Fantasea has raised thousands
of dollars for charities in the local community over this time. This year profits will be donated to Meals on Wheels and over fifty Fantasea staff will help
during the night to run the stalls and all the activities. The highlight of
the evening will be over $20,000 worth of fireworks after sunset. Sea FM have
a live broadcast and the Fire Brigade will have demonstrations and trucks on display.
Set up along the Airlie Beach foreshore from 6:00pm until late, this carnival spectacular
includes food stalls of hot dogs, donuts and fairy floss 'for the kid in all of
us', face painting, glow in the dark novelties and a jumping castle. The popular
Spin the Wheel is back with a collection of fantastic prizes to be drawn during
the evening.
Fantasea General Manager Nigel Douglas says, "Fantasea has been a proud supporter
of Cracker Night and the Reef Festival for many years. We hope as many people as possible will come down on the night and help us raise money for a worthwhile
charity and join us in supporting our local community."
The Reef Festival continues until 4 November and includes a sand sculpting competition,
outdoor cinema, jazz on the foreshore, the Esplanade Dinner Party and the Whitsunday
Times Comedy Gala. Get together with your friends and come down to the foreshore
and celebrate the 2007 Whitsunday Fantasea Reef Festival. For more information go
