Cracker Night Supports Local Charity
1st October 2007
Fantasea Cracker Night was established by Fantasea over ten years ago as a way to
help raise money for local community projects. One charity Fantasea has been
a major sponsor of is Queensland Meals on Wheels Services Association and all profits
from this year's Cracker Night will go towards their kitchen building fund.
Fantasea started the building fund over three years ago as the kitchen for Meals
on Wheels in Airlie Beach and Cannonvale is based in Proserpine. Currently,
the food is cooked in Proserpine and frozen and stored in the Fantasea freezers
in their stores in Cannonvale. The aim of Meals on Wheels is to provide nutritious
meals to frail, disabled or sick people in our community who wish to live in their
own homes.
Barb Adamson has been volunteering at Meals on Wheels for over five years and says,
"we are currently helping about 45 residents with meals but this would double if
we had a kitchen in Cannonvale and could provide hot meals.
We have twelve
volunteers who help deliver the meals twice a week but there are more people prepared
to help if we have our own kitchen and can serve hot nutritious meals."
Fantasea Cracker Night on Friday 26 October provides the community with a great
night of fun and fireworks
while at the same time raising money for a worthwhile
local cause. Over 50 Fantasea staff volunteer their time to help organise
the event and man the stalls on the night.
The highlight of the evening is the massive fireworks display over the Airlie Beach
foreshore. Sea FM will also broadcast live and this carnival spectacular includes
food stalls, face painting, glow in the dark novelties and a jumping castle.
The popular Spin the Wheel is back with a collection of fantastic prizes to be drawn
during the evening.
