Donation is a Cracker!
13th December 2007
Barb Adamson, President of Whitsunday Meals on Wheels, was just “blown away”
when presented with a cheque for $10,000 from Fantasea Adventure Cruising last week.
The donation came from funds raised at Fantasea Cracker Night on 26 October.
Over sixty Fantasea staff contributed their time and energy to help set-up and run
the stalls on what has become a fixture in the Whitsunday social calendar.
The event this year was the most successful yet with record attendance, record revenue
raised and highlighted by a magnificent fireworks display on the foreshore of Airlie Beach.
Barb Adamson says, “I can’t say enough about Fantasea and their staff. They are so happy
to get involved and do it so willingly, it’s just amazing. Fantasea continue to provide
Cracker Night for the local community and the money raised stays in the community.
It is so appreciated and important”.
Paul Maher, Fantasea Finance and Administration Manager said, “Hume Campbell, CEO
of Fantasea Adventure Cruising is so proud of the Fantasea team and their tremendous effort.
A lot of hard work goes into the event but it is all worthwhile to provide a vital
community service with additional funds while at the same time providing the community
with an enjoyable evening".
Fantasea Cracker Night was established over ten years ago as a way to help raise money
for local community projects. Whitsunday Meals on Wheels has received this donation
towards their kitchen building fund. The aim of Meals on Wheels is to provide nutritious
meals to frail, disabled or sick people in our community who wish to live in their own homes.
