The Experience

Stay overnight on the Great Barrier Reef with the unforgettable, unique and award-winning Reefsleep Experience. Enjoy the unique solitude and tranquility of the Great Barrier Reef over two days and one night.

When Reefworld Experience day visitors depart at 2:30pm, the reef, the pontoon and all its amenities are exclusive to Reefsleep’s and their dedicated host. Watch as the underwater world comes to life as the day guests depart and so does the sunlight.

The Reefsleep Experience includes sunset beverages, gourmet alfresco dinner including wine, overnight accommodation, full breakfast, buffet lunches, one scuba dive or guided snorkeling safari. Guests also have sole use of all Reefworld facilities including the underwater viewing chamber, semi-submersible, waterslide along with optional extras such as helicopter tours and massages. No wonder Oprah’s ‘people’ loved it!

Reefsleep features two types of air-conditioned accommodation, both with ensuite bathrooms: a luxurious, king-size room ideal for couples and honeymooners, and a bunk-style quad room for friends, family or other guests.

Getting There

Fantasea’s guests travel to Reefworld on a luxury, high-speed, air-conditioned catamaran that provides a smooth, comfortable passage. Our vessels depart daily from Shute Harbour (via Hamilton Island) with courtesy coach connections from mainland Airlie Beach and Hamilton Island accommodation.

You will depart the pontoon with Reefworld Experience guests at 2:30pm on the day after your arrival. Guests may also choose the option of a helicopter ride back to Hamilton Island.

Getting Wet

There's plenty to do in the water at Reefworld as under water is where the action happens on the Great Barrier Reef! Most people choose to get into the water via our special snorkelling platforms, however if you fancy making a splash you can always use the hot-pink water slide and really make an entrance!

Snorkelling

Reefworld offers free snorkelling equipment, stinger suits and wetsuits. Once you’re kitted out, you’re free to go solo and explore the easy-to-follow snorkelling trails or take a guided snorkelling safari.

Diving

As an accredited PADI facility, Reefworld offers both certified and introductory scuba diving. All dives include equipment that’s maintained to the highest standards, assembled and ready for action, plus an experienced guide/instructor. Fantasea promotes environmentally responsible diving and applauds divers who avoid touching and damaging coral and marine life.

Introductory Dives

After a full briefing, equipment fit-out and a practice session, our dive instructors will guide you down a rope trail to a depth of 8 to 10m. You’ll then have 30 minutes to explore the silent and majestic beauty of the reef. You’re in safe hands with Fantasea: there are only four divers per instructor and our rope trails offer security and reference points for less confident divers.

Certified Dives

Experienced divers can dive to a maximum depth of 16m, allowing you to explore an underwater world teeming with exotic marine life. There’s so much to see … you’ll be back in the water for a second dive!

 


Staying Dry

There’s plenty to do out of the water too: take a ride on our semi-submersible submarine, relax in the pontoon’s 50-seat underwater viewing chamber, spy on George, our 3m Queensland groper, via our underwater ‘GeorgeCam’, or enjoy a gourmet buffet lunch as you take in the views.

Helicopter Tours

For an amazing perspective of the Great Barrier Reef, take the ride of your life in a helicopter and enjoy a bird’s-eye view above Hardy Reef and of the iconic ‘Heart Reef’. Some celebrate a special occasion, some propose to their loved one, however if none of the above apply, you can just sit and marvel as you hover over this unique, natural symbol of love.

Massage

If all this excitement makes your heart race, try calming down with a relaxing massage on the top deck and let therapeutic hands and the sounds of the ocean soothe your mind and body.

Club Seahorse

As a family owned business, Fantasea understands that parents need a helping hand. Club Seahorse offers free babysitting between 11am and 2pm for up to 30 minutes at a time for children aged from 6 months to 15 years. Just notify a member of staff on your journey to Reefworld and they will be more than happy to help.
