One of Sydney’s most famous attractions, the award-winning Taronga Zoo is home to over 4,000 animals, including Australian native wildlife, as well as rare and endangered exotic animals. Overlooking the magnificent Sydney Harbour, the zoo is just 12 minutes from the city by ferry. Open 365 days a year, admission includes daily keeper talks and presentations.

Enjoy the Free-Flight Bird presentation overlooking Sydney Harbour, featuring some of the world’s most spectacular birds and be delighted by the daily Seal presentation where Australian and Californian Sea-lions and the New Zealand Fur-seals will impress you with their grace and skill.

Due to works being carried out on our regular Wharf 3 in Manly from the 9th of October to the 28th of October, we will be utilizing Manly Wharf 2 instead. Please also expect some slight delays.

Visitor Information

Taronga Zoo cares for over 5,000 animals from over 350 species, including Australian native wildlife, as well as rare and endangered exotic animals. Admission tickets include daily keeper talks and seal and/or bird presentations.

  • Taronga Zoo is generally open 365 days of the year, between 9:30am and 4:30pm*
  • Taronga Zoo wharf is wheelchair accessible – contact the team at Taronga Zoo on (02) 9969 2777 to enquire about accessibility inside the zoo
  • From time to time, some animal exhibits may close for maintenance works

Note Taronga Zoo has announced it has ceased operation of the Sky Safari, with planning underway for a revitalised and fully accessible experience in the future. Guests arriving with Fantasea Cruising can enter through the Lower Zoo Entrance just a short walk from the ferry wharf. Alternatively a public bus (at own expense) is available from the ferry wharf to the Main Entrance at the top of the zoo.
